Hi,

A quick question. I have a couple of small electrical appliances that have died (a hair dryer and battery back up). I am assuming I can't just take these to the dump. Does anyone know where I need to go to properly dispose of them on STX? Thanks, KJ

I believe the hair dryer would be fine to go into the landfill....and, if I'm not mistaken, they also have a refuse bin for batteries....

If the hairdryer has a printed circuit board in it - which many these day do - it's considered "electronic waste" and should not go into the dumpster. But I've seen much worse in the dumpsters. The battery back-up is definitely electronic waste and should not go into a dumpster.

Check with the Waste Management Authority. Throughout the year they schedule electronic waste collections. I think I saw an announcement in last weekend's Avis.
