i want to attend the university there next year after i get out of the military. the DOD will pay me 1300 a month to go to school, and i will have about $18k in my savings. will that be enough to sustain me atleast until i get settled in, and how are the odds of me finding some sort of employment to supplement my income?

Good day spartanpgh,

You're coming with a lot more than many students have! It depends on your standard of living, and whether you're on STT or STX -- but you should be able to manage just fine, especially with a part-time job. Good luck to you.

also, this is unrelated to the money, but i am a 26 year old african american who is in good physical shape, and i think im pretty good looking i guess. my question is, are the locals open to dating mainlanders, or is it culturally out of the question?

i think most of the younger people are more open minded. most mainlanders are very open minded. i would think people would look past where you came from and what color you are. as long as you are a nice person and treat your prospective date right, what else should matter. you might have to look long and hard to find a good woman.

STX has cheaper real estate and gasoline, and is less crowded than STT. They have the same population but STX is twice the land size.

STT has more direct flights to the mainland and it's far easier to get to STJ and BVI from STT than from STX.

STT and STX have about the same crime rates.
