Good morning, all! Does anybody still have this plan? If so, has your service changed (deteriorated)? Mine has been mighty slow these last few months, and I think it's because Sprint is trying to force me off this plan. Am I being paranoid???

I have that plan..............It has always been slow on STX but reliable.............when I'm in the states it's at least four times faster. For me reliability is more important. 😉

A side note: the "unlimited" was taken away and limited us to 5g................I checked this year with a rep and was amazed that they've given it back............the rep warned me NOT to change plans because the "unlimited" will go away! 😀

Sigh. Thanks for those who responded. They keep telling me to keep my unlimited, but I have the phone with unlimited, and since the modem is so slow, I'm thinking of finally giving it up. I can get on my neighbor's VI-FI, so I do have 2 (well, 3 if you count the modem!) internet connections available to me. I was thinking of sending it to someone in the States to see if they can use it. I don't know what to do with it at this point.

BTW, I was told that the new modems won't even work on our unlimited plans! So we're SOL if/when our current modems die (as my first one did after a few years). It's only a matter of time before they phase them out, I think.

ms411,

I know you've had the modem for a long time but have you updated through "Sprint Smartview" and choosing "check for updates" on the tools tab? I did that last month and it made a noticeable difference for me. I keep my modem on a router and because of that I rarely ever use the "Sprint Smartview" so I tend to forget to update.

Just a thought!

Thanks, Daniel. I'll try that, but I think I went through that about a week ago with Sprint's tech support. What download speeds are you getting on your router?

ms411,

I have a Linksys466b router which is no longer available but they do have USB Sprint compatible devices, just check evdoforums.com
download............... 134 kbps up................ 96 kbps

Usually before 7am it's much better and like I said.......it is at least reliable.

In my area most cell phones have poor to no service so I'm pleased that my device at least works. Tried Choice once for a short while and quit as it almost never worked. :S Innovative's service also was poor. 😮

I tried the New Innovative wireless card and it worked great. 1mps-2.5mps speeds. BUT! The service has been out for 3 days. I hope they correct this soon. They offer True unlimited (Local only) for $79.99 and 5GB for $49.99. I called today and they said they are working out kinks in the network being that it is new bla bla bla...... Why did you launch a network that would not work?

Thanks again, everyone, for your responses. I was tempted to get Innovative's device, but didn't want to sign a contract. I hear Virgin Mobile's MiFi is good so that's under consideration as a possible replacement, but it's on the Sprint network, and I don't want all my connections in the same basket!

It's $175 to cancel the contract. But they gave me the choice to buy the device for $149.99 and go on no contract. They still ran credit on me. I guess in case I run up a huge bill. I went with the 5gb, it has $10 per gb overage. That not bad. Now if they can get it working again *sigh*.
