Yes I used to teach there. The campus is beautiful, though not for the out-of-shape. There are lots of stairs, especially between upper and lower campus. Let me know if you have any specific questions about the University.

my new job would be working as the student activities supervisor. are the buildings nice and is the up to date technology? How is student culture different than colleges in the mainland?

Sounds like a fun job! I think the buildings are actually quite nice. I'm not sure when the school was built, but I'd guess a lot more recently than most mainland Universities. This buildings (at least the ones I worked in) seemed a lot newer and nicer than many original buildings on older mainland campuses. I love the stone and archways everywhere (the library kinda makes me feel like I'm in Harry Potter, haha, I'm a nerd I know). As far as technology I think that's pretty good too. I didn't need much more than reliable high speed internet, which they have, but I'm sure if you need some other less common state-of-the-art hardware or software, that would be harder to access. As far as the students, most are local and don't live on campus but commute. There are also a fair number of students from the states and also other Caribbean islands. It is a relatively small school though, and as I said, mostly a commuter campus. This made it seem a lot more tame than my college experience. Other than that I'd say they seemed like pretty typical college students. It's not perfect, and you may run into some frustrations, as with anything, but in short I think the UVI is one of the most efficient gov institutions on the island.
