But lets not dissuade someone from living their dream and investing in our islands. I say, "Come on Down!"

And as I've mentioned before to this OP, whether it be the question of investing in/opening a jet ski or any other business or purchasing real estate, it's wise to first live here for at LEAST a year before making any investments at all. We all know how high the attrition rate of "newbies" is and these statistics can't be ignored.

I agree, better safe than sorry later, like the old saying says "a fool and their money are soon parted". Spend a little time on the island before making such a firm commitment.

Reading back, I don't see where caribstx stated his boat was "killing the reef."

My boat is much louder and much worse for the environment with its oily old twin engines.

I mean last time I checked oil was bad for the REEF in fact it kills it. Then again what do I know, I only used to grow over 40 species.

My boat is no worse than any other. The point was that jet skis are likely much less harmful to the environment than your typical boat. I don't get the hate some have for jet skis and never will.

Heck...it even seems okay now to drive unlicensed quad runners and dirt bikes on the roads these days. I see guys on STX ripping around my area all the time now. I know for a fact that they use them on trails too. How bad is that for the environment?

Then report them. You become part of the problem if you refuse to be part of the solution.

Actually, I'd love to have a few quad runners. Looks like fun!
