Whats the deal with getting permits for either a food truck or Hot Dog stand ect...For example for a food cart can you go anywhere you want to sell or are some places off limits? Do you need a special permit to sell beers or can anyone sell it with a cooler? I am looking at maybe buying a condo at Crystal Cove is there anyway you could set up on the beach? Any info would be helpful

1. You need a license from the Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs and your cart/stand/truck whatever will have to be inspected by the Department of Health while you will also have to obtain a Food Handler's card.

2. No. You'll have to apply for a permit to set up anywhere.

3. Yes, you need a business/vendors license.

4. You cannot set up any business on any beach without proper permitting, nor can you do so on private property.

You need a liquor license to sell beer. There are many special events that allow mobile food vendors and participation fees vary. You may be able to find a commercial property that may lease you a portion of their property, but make sure they can sublet.

The only place I can think of is on Emerald Beach near Walker's By the Sea. I think the one there closed, or it's not open on regular basis.
