Your vet will need to provide a health certificate & will need your stx address on it. Booster shots will be necessary are well as flealessness.

VI has no rabies so your dog will need that shot and proof, thereof.
Your vet should be able to provide information on travel with pet and what's needed.

Just remember that airlines do not fly pets in cargo during summer months due to heat factors unless you do so by expensive, private charter flt. You should check with airline about their regs. and size kennel approved for pets. There are size limits and other breed specific restrictions.

If you use a vet practice that has multiple veterinarians, make sure you tell them when you make the appointment that you need a domestic health certificate completed. Not all vets are certified to sign them. You don't want to have to make a second trip back because the right vet wasn't working the day you went.

Below comments are for in-cabin pets only. Not sure about what they do for cargo doggies:
In my experience (13 flights, 5 airlines), all the gate agents really looked for on the certificate was the Rabies shot info. Some don't even ask to see the health certificate. But most at least asked if I had one. They may look at the dog in its carrier to make sure he isn't too freaked out, to see if he's too cramped, and to verify that the carrier isn't too big.

You need nothing for TSA Security check, except you need to remove in-cabin pets from their carriers for screening. There is no checking of in-cabin pets or their documents on arrival if coming from the US.

If flying in-cabin, do check the type of plane when you are making reservations. Some can only handle smaller pet carriers. You can find out if your dog will fit the specific plane by calling the airline before you book. And do call to let them know you are bringing a dog. There's a limit.
