Encouraging news from WAPA.

WAPA will have another community outreach educational demonstration in June at UVI. Very informative, especially the demonstration of hurricane safety.

They stressed the importance of not trying to move downed power lines, and they had a mock up of trees, power lines, house, vehicle to show how dangerous they can be when power lines are down. He didn't get a chance to finish his presentation, because time was limited. I'm hoping to go to demo in June so I can see the entire demonstration.

They also showed the difference in power consumption for different devices including the new l.e.d. bulbs. If you see the demonstration, you'll never blow dry your hair again!

Thanks.

We all know about the dangers of downed power lines. Or should,
by now.

Don't think I've used a blow dryer since Hurricane Hugo unless I 've just had a hair cut at a salon. They do consume a lot of electricity.

During emergencies people have s tendency to panic and take risks they might not normally take.

I never assume that somebody knows something unless it's someone I know well. Even though I knew theoretically about most of what they presented, see demos really brought things to life.

After living here for decades and being thru multiple hurricanes (too many!) including major ones like Hugo and Marilyn, think I have my bases covered. Thanks.

Speaking of storms, looks like we're starting early this year with tropical storm Anna. At least, it's a minimal storm for South and North Carolina.

Good time tho to begin to get your prep done for our upcoming hurricane season.
