Ironic that the only complaint came from the Divi Carina Bay Casino. 😀

I believe it is just slots, no gaming tables.

I think it will end up being a good thing. It should bring tightened security and more people to C'sted...

Time will tell.

The whole purpose of allowing casino gambling on St Croix was to make the island a gambling destination for those interested and produce revenue. There's little point decrying it now when the decision was made WITH the input of the community years ago. Those who oppose it had their chance a long time ago to express their concerns - and did so. The majority ruled.

(tu) I've been to Divi exactly 3 times. Only once to gamble. Slots in C'sted might actually get me off my hill and into town.

Where can I find a decent card game in USVI? Poker or BJ would be nice once in a while. I do not mean electronic game. Must be human dealer and real card deck.

Get together with some friends.
Years ago friends would get together to play spades, hearts, poker and we'd alternate homes where we'd play so no one person got stuck hosting all the time.
If you're interested in bridge they have a bridge club at the Al Cohen plaza where Mango Tango Art Gallery in located, a few doors down. Paint Depot is on lower level.

Casino games are allowed on St Croix only. The only legal "gambling" on St Thomas is in the VLT parlors.

As OT says, originally there was a vote and the territory voted down casino gambling. St Croix asked for a separate vote, and it passed. Casinos are supposed to be attached to hotels to house the visitors who can't gamble within 5 miles of their homes in the US. 😉 Then our illustrious leaders decided St Thomas needed to drain the bank accounts of its most vulnerable residents and started up the VLT business without any input from the people.

When are they coming to force me to gamble? Haven't put any money in any machine since I've been and don't plan on it.

This has been discussed at length but before your arrival here. The short answer is that, as self controlled as you or I or anyone else is where gambling is concerned, the VLTs have unfortunately attracted a huge number of local residents who can barely afford to provide for themselves and their families but can be seen every day stopping into the local coffee shop or bar on their way to and from work to piddle away the little they have. Not a situation unique to the USVI by any stretch but simply a brief comment on your solo back-slapping! 😀

Was not back slapping OT, but I would appreciate someone else slapping my back for having self control and discipline

Does Divi have table games? Are they exclusively for the resort guests? I have not played Bridge for 30 years. Would rather play chess. If one were to open a private club, would gambling be legal for members then in STT?

The Divi is the only casino in the territory. http://www.carinabay.com/gaming/table-games

Lucky we have the casino commission with their highly paid employees to oversee it.;)

Well then we have a lot of non grown ups here apparently who are being drained of their bank accounts as vulnerable citizens. I think I'm heading down to drop $100 tonight. Wish me luck
