I have read info that it is better to go to STX for a drivers license. NO medical, just turn in old and fill out forms is that still true?

It probably depends more on whether the clerk you encounter is having a good day. You'll just have to try it and see.

As far as I know you still need to get your eye test done at Pearl Vision. As part of the eye test they also gave you the medical exam which consisted of asking you if you were healthy.

amodford30,

Having just gotten my driver's license on STT in Sept. (just a couple of months ago), I am happy to inform you that with a valid stateside license that you turn in, there is no need for an eye test or medical exam. Just paperwork, that is at the front window, next to the cashier, that needs to be filled out. I posted about this right after my experience. You may want to do a search to see the exact procedure to go through. It was actually quite painless!!

I got my driver's license on STX about six months ago and there was nothing about an eye test. Just gave them my old license, filled out some forms, they took a photo, I paid something like $35 or $50, and was on my way.

I did not get the impression that they were doing me any favors in this process. When I called and asked what the procedure would be it was described as it happened.

I know if the license is expired it is a different procedure.
