Hello, I am currently a seventh grade teacher living in the state of Ga. I would like to know how the public education is on USVI. I would also like to know, do teachers have many classroom problems with students as we do in the states? Are parents activily involve with the student's education. Please provide me with as much information as possible.

Thank you

S. Brown

Hello S. Brown,

You should visit some of the edu. dept. web sites ... visit the employment section of this site for some links under Teachers and also visit the Schools/Education section for more links to the district web site and school web sites.

Yes there are classroom problems; I of course don't know what you experience currently but there are behavioral problems, learning problems, supply issues, large class sizes.... there are also pay increase issues which sometimes results in strikes... Some parents are involved and others are not; you might see some parents only when they have to pick up the child's report card and others will participate in PTA groups.
