My wife, (2) children and I are looking to relocate to St. Croix from Delaware. I am a registered professional engineer and am looking for a technical job on St. Croix. I am currently in sales and specialize in construction related fields. I am willing to take on a new career, but I haven't found too many things so far. Ant help would be greatly appreciated.

Why have you decided on St.Croix vs St.Thomas or St.John?

As a rule, finding work before actually moving is difficult because so many people plan on coming and don't. From what I've read, the exception is certain professions, nurses and teachers come to mind. I'd suggest you look at the phone book that's on line and see if there are any listings for companies that are in your field and contact them regarding the availability of work.

In my opinion, St. Croix is a good choice for you. There are opportunities for employment that are not available on St. Thomas or St. John.

Good Luck.

The phone book Linda mentions is www.viphonebook.com

I would recommend calling business that might have openings, faxing your resume and plan a pre move visit to meet and see if you can secure work. Also a premove visit would allow you to visit schools for your children ect. Will they be attending public or private schools? Does you wife work? You might get the Settlers Handbook and read thourgh it so you can get thinking about all the questions you might have about island living - good idea to have as much information so your move is successful.

Good Luck.
