Entrance fee for Carnival Village

An entrance fee for carnival/festival villages in the V.I. is long overdue. A large portion of the budget, which is subsidized by the govt, goes to paying for nightly entertainment. I've heard of entertainers charging upwards of 15-20K

Only in our villages or during election will patrons get FREE entertainment like that. Anytime or anywhere else it would be a $30-50 entrance fee.

A broke govt cannot continue pouring money into carnival. The carnival committee needs to start covering the costs.

We will go on a free night. I'm not rewarding people who do not know how to budget.

And complain about the crowds, I'm sure. *-)

Sparty - IF you feel so strongly about the "unfairness of the entrance fee,"
Just boycott Carnival, altogether.

you have a greater chance of being killed by a hippo than an amusement park ride

the rides are safer than being in a car

You're kidding, right?

But we're in the Virgin Islands...land of no enforcement or inspection.

Those rides have always been what I felt were super dangerous. Never let our kids ride any of them..

I only complain about things that affect the people of the VI. Stop liking my Facebook comments too. You are conspiring with the enemy.

Yes hat carousel which spins at like Mach 2 will surely be catastrophic. Lol. Everyone's little snowflake will be alright.

Alana. I won't boycott carnival. I will still go. I may have a Jouvert troupe after all this year. They will be wearing my campaign shirts.

People in the VI are accustomed to free just-about-everything. No one wants to pay for parking... for hospital care...for a cemetery plot...for school lunch...for Carnival. In the end, someone has to pay. I am all for user fees.

Of course those in favor of user fees have the means. Funny how that works.

http://viconsortium.com/entertainment/st-thomas-carnival-village-admission-fee-is-5-per-night-children-13-and-younger-get-in-free/

It seems security is a key component here.
13 and younger get in free and 2 free knights.
Sounds very reasonable.
