Hi all, we are mom, dad and 3 kids. planning to move from puerto rico to st thomas soon. Dad is coming on a scouting trip first in a few days and need info on a real cheap place to sleep for a couple of nights. a bunk in a boat would be great or real cheap guest house.
Dad has 25 yrs experience with boats and will be looking for work. Mom has 5 yrs boat exp, is an excellent cook, hostess/waitress and will need a job also. We both speak english and spanish.
Any help, info or links to info we could use would be appreciated greatly.
please e-mail at desireee@earthlink.net
thanks, gary and desireee

ps: we came to puerto rico 3 months ago with the promise of good permanent jobs but now the business is closing in december and we are left stranded..since the navy base here closed the economy is sinking, jobs are scarce and st thomas looks like our best chance.

Hello,

You might try:

www.islandviewstthomas.com

http://www.crystalpalaceusvi.com

www.galleonhouse.com

ww.bunkerhillhotel.com

www.danishchaletinn.com

These are the less costly of the small hotels/inns.

Are your kids school age? If so you might look over the section on schools/education on this site for information.

hi, thanks for the info. i checked the sites and they are way out of the budget unless we had jobs already lined up and could start immediately upon arrival. I will try to find a ride on a boat and come over soon to look around and put up notices on the bulletin boards at the marinas, etc.

In the meantime i am sending a short resume with this post. maybe someone will see it and hire us sight unseen.

i already checked the school info and don`t see any problems as we have always homeschooled our kids. maybe we will put them in public school there but will decide that after we get there and check it out.

any links to jobs, specially marine related, would be helpful.

thanks alot, gary and desiree
