Silly question for married ladies

Even though we are not moving to STX for a while yet, we are moving across town. While packing, I am throwing/giving away a lot of stuff I know we will not need once we make our "real" move and it got me thinking about what we "really" need. My question to the married ladies, did you bring your wedding gown with you? It is so sentimental to me, I paid a lot of $$ for it and hope to one day wear it again for a renewal ceremony. (on the beach at sunset of course!) Will it just rot away in that climate? (it has lots of tulle and satin).

Thanks in advance!
Kendra

Hi Kendra,

I would think if you have it professionally vaccum packed in plastic that it would be okay. I left mine at my parents house back in the states. We decided that everything that was brought here might stay here in one way or another. A lot of things are staying at the parent's house. They can always ship things to me if needed. We don't have air conditioning and my pictures are sticking together. I am taking them back to the states as well. As you might know, I talk about all the stuff we brought that was just too much. I just don't have the space. I brought a lot of artwork and pictures to hang, which I don't want to mess up the walls so I don't really know what to do with that. I also brought too many books and am constantly going thru them making sure they are not damp or have termites or silverfish. We are good so far, but I hate to have things to worry about. Anyway, if you just have the dress hanging up in plastic it might get moisture and some mold or mildew or at the very least some kind of funky smell. I am also putting dryer sheets around closets and stuff. Things are getting kind of a basement musty smell to them if they sit too long. Your decision, but if you have someone who could hold on to it for you then you might want to do that instead of worrying about it here in case you get a place with no air. Just my 2 cents.
