Southgate Market grows and sells their own produce. I believe they have wells for irrigation.

You can contact the University of the Virgin Islands for great advice - they have a rural extension(?) unit and are fabulous people for all sorts of information.

Kelly Gloger of Sustainable Systems Development Inc.( SSDI ) is a fount of local farming knowledge and has great links to the local Farmers In Action group ( Kendall petersen). You can get Kelly's number from SEA (ST CRoix Environmental Association). They work together on many projects. SEA have a web page at www.stxenvironmental.org.
Hope this helps

Hello there. I read the above and it makes sense to me. Both good places to go. Also, there is the USVI department of agriculture almost across from the University. I have always grown my own veggies, and have tried most things since arriving. I have found that almost all does well, though there are rather large snails that can eat a bed of seedlings in an evening. I don't put plants in until they are on their 4th-5th leaf growth. Then they seem fine. Mellons, all salad veggies, beans, squash, etc. Soil a bit acid. I haven't treated mine, and everything still seems fine.

Hope this is of some help,

Dan
