Hello, I am new to this forum.
We are interested in moving to St. Criox, we have many concerns thou involving our "baby" aka a Cessna 182. We are wanting advice on bringing our plane to St. Criox. We are coming from the US. We believe it will be some what difficult to get it there. We are wondering what kind of fees are associated with registering the aircraft? And what else we will face when we get to the Island? We are aware of the corrosion issues from being there and we are concerned about hurricanes as well. We are worried it will be very pricey to fly and store our plane.
Does anyone know the current price of Av gas?
How hard is it to find a hanger? And how much should we expect to pay?
Also we are hoping to do some island hopping, how difficult is it to land on different islands especially those that aren't a US Property?
Which Island are the most friendly to pilots?
I would love to hear from anyone who has done this before and I am sure there has to be quite few people who have!

Thanks, Sandy

If you haven't already bought a copy. I have used the information to go into many of the islands. You can buy the hardcopy or download it from the iTunes store.

As Rotorhead said, do your homework. It sounds like you are new to island flying. Talk with some experienced individuals before you do it yourself. There is nothing inherently difficult about flying in the Caribbean, but it is an environment that is much less forgiving of mistakes and poor judgement than the continental US. There is an active GA community in the islands, and aviation is appreciated most everywhere.

There are a number of routings to get a plane here. It can be done through a series of easy legs not more than 400 miles each, all within 50 miles or less of shore.
