Kev,

I don't know about your questions, but can point you to some discussions we have had in the past on this board. Do a search at the top and put in a discussion title 'Questions About Jobs and Buffett' and also 'Community Band'. You might find some answers to your questions or at least find some other musicians. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Hello Kev,

Here is a recent response to a very similar question:

Finding a music gig is going to be tough but certainly not impossiable. You would need to network at all the live music venues and talk to the musicians. I am quite certain that all the musicians here do something else as a day job so you need to think of what you want that to be; one guy I know works as a framer in an art gallery and does gigs at night, weddings ect., I had a professor at UVI who was also a muscian, a doctor by day - muscian at special gigs at night, a jewlerly store owner by day and a reggae band member by night, photographer by day & band member, a sales person at an electronics store and a muscian... hope you get the picture. If all these musicians are working day jobs and doing music at night there is a reason; they need the steady realiable income to make ends meet. So not an impossiable dream you just need to think of another job you would like to do along with the music.
