Hey everyone,

I am new to the message board, well let me re-phrase, I am new to writing on the message board..i like to check in and read because it calms me and makes me feel normal about putting my life in upheaval to move to STT. My fiance writes occasionally and loves all the honest advice and encouragement!

We are moving on July 25. I am going to be going for my masters at UVI, part time. I have my BA in English/Communications, and I was wondering what type of job I should pursue. If I should go with the tourist industry ( I have extensive waitressing experience...worked my way through college doing that) or a more professional job?? Because my degree is so non-specific, it makes it really hard to find a job ( I ended up working as a law assistant...very random). Any insight would be welcome!! All in all, I am so ready to move ( I currently live in Massachusetts) and start my life down there!

~B

Hello Becky,

Welcome to the writing on the board! 😉

There is a note on the Antilles School web site that they are looking for an upper school English teacher. You can find the information on the bottom, right side of their home page at http://www.antilles.k12.vi.us/.

How about looking at the Daily News (I'm thinking editing/proofing)? Their web site is www.virginislandsdailynews.com

You could also look into law assistant since you have experience and/or waitressing.

Well, you could try the school system. You probably have enough credit hours in English. Do you have any educatin courses under your belt?

Thanks for the website Islander! I took a couple journalism classes in college so the editing/proofing might deff. be a possibility, one I didn't even think of.

I don't have any education courses under my belt, so I don't know if I am exactly qualified to work as a teacher. I'm getting anxious to move!!! 🙂
