Please don't drive through flooded roads.
We (the VI) lost someone to flooding a few years ago in LaGrange outside of Frederiksted.

Looks like it has arrived a little earlier - San Juan radar is down for "maintenance" but satellite loops show serious convection.

It's been pouring for hours here on STT.
This is a very significant rain event.
Heavy, constant rain and thunder.
Not a day to be out on any of our roads so stay safe.
Our cisterns and plants will be happy.

We had a few bouts of heavy rain out by the airport on STX but not constant.

The meteosat radar shows that most of the rain is north of STX on our neighbors on STT.

It has been torrential rain, loud thunder and close by lightening since early morning here on the western top of Crown Mt. - my access road is running a river 6" deep and I live on TOP !! of the Mt. - the ghuts must be raging waterfalls and lower elevations are sure to be flooded and potentially dangerous.

I'm in the KingsHill area... been raining off and on, some times pretty heavy... but not consistent at all.

The ghut in my location is a rushing river.
All heading into Dorothea Bay.
As reminder, one should wait a couple days for bays and beaches to flush themselves out before swimming.

Lovely day to be home.
Decided this morning that anything that involved leaving the house could wait for another day.

I picked up my boy from daycare on Cassi Hill at 12:30 and the drive back was bad. Deep water pockets in roads. Debris floating down roads. In hindsight, I would have waited to get him, it was not a good idea to be driving with him

That's why I drive a 4 x 4 with a lift kit!

I have a 4x4 too. But I'm well endowed enough to not need the lift kit 😉

These roads can be extremely dangerous in heavy rains.
The water piles up within minutes and what was slightly damp road becomes a deep, rushing stream, you have to be careful of rockslides and mudslides plus if the rain is so heavy that it completely impairs visibility, there's often no place on the side of the road to pull over and wait it out. Not to mention that you can no longer see the crater like potholes.
Glad you and son made it home safe and sound, Sparty.
