If they are setting up in the same place as last year, it will be at the Crown Bay Center Welcome Center by First Bank on the right side of parking lot.

I'd rather wear uranium ore around my neck than get a shot of mercury in my arm...

oh wait, I do...

coming up on a year now, haven't had a flu or cold yet... how's that needle full of faith working out?

You're welcome. Out by 9:40am. I agree it was as organized as they could be in such limited space.

Dear Liquid: I am sorry you are so misinformed about influenza immunization. Glad you haven't been ill and infected others around you. 😉

I don't get flu shots any longer as once I stopped getting them, I stopped getting sick. I have eliminated pretty much all conventional medicine from my life for the last ten years (don't take pills or shots of any sort unless absolutely have to) and feel healthier, more energy, and get sick less often. I focus more on my diet and lifestyle to keep me healthy.

My 72 year old father had a horrible time with flu this last year - almost died. He got his flu shot. When he was in the hospital in Texas, there were floors and floors of people with the flu, 60 to a floor - primarily elderly and children - and the majority of them had had the flu shot. I was around him and my mother (who coughed right in my face) and many other people with this terribly virulent flu and I didn't get sick. I did not have a flu shot.

For me, I have made the decision that flu shots do more harm than good. But everyone needs to decide for themselves. I just encourage people to do their own research vs. simply accepting everything as true.

Julie: Are you saying you believe that the reason you are not sick is because you have eliminated "conventional" medicine from your life? One must be careful about cause and effect. 🙂

I'm not quoting a direct cause and effect. But yes, since I have eliminated conventional medicine (as well as most processed foods and drinks) from my life I am definitely healthier, my natural resistance is higher, and I enjoy much more energy than I ever did before. That said i do take antibiotics if I really need them - i.e. if my natural resistance doesn't fight off something for more than a week or two - and I do believe in some immunizations (polio, duh), but not all of them. But I've probably had antibiotics 3 times in the last ten years.

Call it what you will, but it works for me. I firmly believe that one of the reasons pharmaceutical companies make so much money is because they make it by keeping people sick. Healthy people are not money-makers.

Do some research and reading and we can discuss offline sometime if you're interested. I don't really want to hijack this thread, but I thought it was important enough to mention that people don't just line up like sheep believing everything they're told to do. Follow the money.

Dear Liquid: I am sorry you are so misinformed about influenza immunization. Glad you haven't been ill and infected others around you. 😉

on this island how well do you think the "herd immunization" works out?

what percentage is reached?

Oh, and by participating in a failed "herd immunization" push you are very likely infecting those that did not get a shot due to your attenuated virus injections... but I guess you just say F' em right?

I'm actually highly informed on immunization and the tenuousness of it's claims, one of my best friends is a virologist who has very interesting views on the subject, he calls "shots" bargain-basement-prevention with poor statistical backing.

I think we should all spend 10-20 hours of research (open minded / unbiased / both sides of the issue type of research) on topics like this before we affect others in a negative way by introducing pathogens into a community; especially one like this.

Big Pharma, huh?;)

if you are unfamiliar with this term then perhaps we both live in very different worlds; yes "big Pharma" it's probably rivaling "Big Oil" for how much it is damaging society/humanity currently.

Oh for goodness sake!
This was just a public service announcement Beachcomber was nice enough to post for those wishing to get flu shots.
Good for you if you choose not to have them. If you want to discuss not having them then start a new post on the Coconut Tree site.
Good Grief!

I don't go for flu shots, but I do believe that other things, like polio vaccines, should be used.

yes, there certainly are very useful applications for vaccination; my comment was targeted on the topic of influenza vaccination.

I swear by Parvo shots for dogs, a life saver for sure.

As an adult, I have never had a flu shot and never had the flu. I agree with sunshinefun. Flu shots and vaccines are government population control programs.

Yep. I am healthier than ever these days. I don't necessarily ascribe to the "government control" theory but I as i mentioned above I view it simply as an ongoing moneymaker. Keep people sick, keep making $$$.

I had an interesting conversation with the lead CDC doctor in Austin when Dad was so sick. He told me that on average they see more people in the hospital with the flu who DID get a shot vs. those that DIDN'T. Of course, they chalk it up to "high risk" groups and individuals. But I see it differently.

(agree that this is an Under the Coconut Tree sidebar convo - if someone wants to move it or start a new discussion. I'm not disparaging BeachcomberSTT for sharing information some may be interested in at all) 🙂
