Flu shots
Does anyone know if/where flu shots are being given on STX? Ric hears something on the radio but can't remember. Thanks
An update:
The Department of Health will be giving free seasonal flu shots of October 30th, and November 6th from 10am til 3pm.
On the October 30th, it will be at Plaza Extra-Mount Pleasant (West)
On November 6th, the shots will be offered at Plaza Extra-Sion Farm (East)
Hope this helps!
hyoungvt, Are the h1n1 flu shots for everyone? you must be from vermont.vt?
I am pretty sure that on stx the H1N1 shots were this past week for at risk people. The next round will be give Oct. 26th but I am not sure where.
my mom and sister had the flu shot and both got sick from it. not sure if i want to take that chance or not. sister had to since she works in the hospital.
i think as a precaution that people who are "dumb" enough to come into work sick should be MADE to go home. have had some sickies around me lately and they won't leave work. course then we all get sick. IT NEEDS TO BE MANDATORY!!!!
I got the flu shot & pneumonia shot (not H1N1) for the first time & had no side effects whatsoever.
Dixie, did they get the H1N1? I am still on the fence about it with JJ. His stateside doctors say get it as he has asthma.
Does anyone on STT know if there have been confirmed cases of H1N1 here? My 18 yr old UVI student is sick with similar symptoms to that of the virus. And, YES, she is home from classes!

I heard there was but there was.
Trade~ there was or was not? *-)
The CDC website shows 44 cases in the USVI but doesn't break it down by island. http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/updates/071709.htm
That's what I get for multi-tasking. It should read that I heard that there was but they weren't reporting them unless the patient had to be hospitalized or something like that. It was in the paper.
Free seasonal flu shots are being given by the Department of Health at Plaza Extra-Mount Pleasant (West)on Friday, October 30th.
10 am-3pm.
Bombi- Yes moved down here in August from Vermont for the nursing program at UVI 🙂
I took my kids to get the shots on Tuesday at Canegada ball park. It was super organized and efficient (and free!). They didn't have H1N1 shots, but they had it in the nose spray. My daughter and I got the nose spray and we also got the regular flu shot in the arm. My son got the seasonal flu shot, but he was sniffling so they didn't want to give him the nose spray. We haven't had any side effects for what it's worth.
H1N1 seems to be pretty awful for a week or so, and I hope we can avoid it. One annoying thing, my daughter, who is 4, needs to get a second dose of H1N1 in 28 days before she will be completely immunized.
So I hope it is in stock at the end of November!
It was a great time on Tuesday! Perhaps I saw you (I was one of the nursing student giving the shots).
