Need some advice here - what is the youngest an infant should fly? Also, what precautions do you need to take for the pressure in their ears?

You should be asking your pediatrician these questions.

I nurse at take off and landing to reduce pressure build up in my daughter's ears.

As for your other concern, FI is correct that your pediatrician is in a better position to advise you of the appropriate age.

We took our daugher flying at 6 weeks - had to be at grandma's for Christmas. I also nursed during takeoff and landing and that worked well. She enjoyed the flight! She got to be held in my arms the entire time, there was that nice soft hum of the engines in the background, no problem at all. But they are all different, of course, your experience might not be the same.

You can fly with a baby any age as long as they are healthy. Make sure your little one does not have a ear infection. Bring a bottle, paci or nurse wile take off and landing. If your little one can play bring some of babies favorid things to play with. I guys always slept a lot when they where really little. Now they are tots and are quite a task to control.

I flew with my newborn at 3 weeks. I asked the doctor first. She did well and slept all the way through.

DO tell the flight attendants or pilot to do a "slow decent" because you have a new baby. This will help with their little ears.

Best advice ever - - Buy a snugli infant carrier, but you will have to take it off to go through security.

My baby is 2 and a half months old, she loves flying. She has flown on seaborne many times. She falls asleep right after the propellers start.

My daughter has flown 14 times in her 8 months of life. I didn't fly with her until she was 4 months old. I also gave a bottle during take off and landing...be prepared that there is recycled germs on planes with people coughing, sneezing, etc so...everytime my baby flew she got sick with a cold. I was glad to have a stroller so my hands were free. You can take it all the way to the gate and they have it out for you when you get off. Tell them you would like an extra seat if not a full flight so you have some space. good luck!

Thanks to all for your advice. It is my grandbaby that will be coming down. She will be almost 3 months by the time she flys. My daughter-in-law is talking to the doctor tomorrow - getting clearance/advice.
