Freedom of Information Act

I have some friends who had their car broken into at Point Udall about 3 weeks ago. They have requested some crime statistics for Point Udall. They were told that the information actually exists, but they had to follow a specific protocol to request the information. Surprise!!! They didn't get the info. The Deputy chief stated that it was unprecedented for a resident to request this information and so they decided that it would not be released. This is absurd! Short of legal action, does anyone have any idea of how to obtain this info??? Additionally, my friend is so upset that he is sponsoring a Crime Free Day at Pt Udall on November 1 (Sunday). It is a shame that we live with this crime on STX and tolerate the police dept not doing what they are supposed to.

Make your life easy, contact the newspapers and have them request the information.

Note the exemptions on the left side at this site. Lizard had a good suggestion.

I got a chuckle out of the acronym for the website posted by Trade:

FOGG

😀
