AandA- we should have drinks. You rock.

I'm not being sensitive, BTW...just supporting my opinion. It's not a news article...It's a BLOG, as stated earlier. And, for you to asume that I am a weak person, or sensitive, or unaware of the life change I have made...Well, I don't have to tell you where assumptions come from. As a matter of fact, I left my home, on my own, for the second time in my life, with limited personal belongings to go to a place I had never been before to crash in the spare room of a friend of a friend who I had never met before for a job at a restaurant I had never seen before.

Is it forever? I don't know. Longer than a season...most likely. Please, please please, don't incinuate that you know who I am or where I'm coming from....That's the same assumption I made based on others opinions that YOU are criticizing me for. So, let's all just stop the nonsense and revel in the beauty all around us.

No one is criticising your opinions!! We are asking that you state that they, indeed, are opinions A thicker skin will get you far in life, Sweetie. I know we all wish you well. I do, anyway. Don't take such personal offense. Good grief.

Funny thing, your understanding of St Thomas 'from what you hear' is what the folks in Coral Bay feel about Cruz Bay!! It's just perception. Enjoy.

I wonder what the tone of this board would be like if we all used our real names.

I haven't really been following these particular posts tho I did check out mountaingirl's blog a few days back and quite enjoyed the commentary for what little I read. I hope she continues it.

Give her a chance to get settled in to the daily routine's of life in the islands. As many of us already know, it does take some time to acclimate for some people. Meantime, she's enjoying herself and it is her blog and her perception of things as she goes about discoveries in her new life in STJ.

Those in STX think it's way better than STT, those in STT like it better here than in STJ and so on.
Everyone has their opinions and these happen to be hers at the present time.

I've lived on STJ, still have family there, visited STX from time to time and much prefer the daily life here in STT and the options it offers me.

Oh look a new person on the island/board and they're wielding enthusiasm. Get um! lol

Ha, brilliant observation Jam! 😎

I guess we should just all humble ourselves in the presence, and accompanying collective wisdom, of all the really Old Timers.

I get it, I really do. I've been here almost a year now and have learned so much I never would have understood without being here. I meet people who are gonna make big changes here and I chuckle. I think the tone of this board gets fairly negative at times. My perception of what tings would be like and how they turned out are incomparably different. I'm sure some of the folks on here have watched thousands, if not more, people come down, find a place completely different and watch everything change as their winds shift. It must get frustrating.

Not all "old timers" lack enthiasum. Some of us want change and welcome the fresh energy of new comers.

Also, I've met almost all the regulars on this board in real life and been asked if I was the same Jamison, which I am. So, there is no real anonymity for me on here. I try and be respectful, but occasionally drink too much and run my mouth, just like in real life. Always be you, for better or worse. I know I've met some of the people on here, who didn't tell me it was them also. It's easy to pick up conversations.

Excellent attitude.
I guess it must be only some of the OldT's who exist on a superior level of social conscious and understanding, that the rest of us mid-term and newcomer peons are incapable of.

Doesn't "it seems to me" define a personal opinion?

Beautiful writing by the way. I will be following your journey.

Yes, it does the trick nicely. Unfortunately, the original posts weren't phrased that way. The last post was much clearer in that regard, e.g.: " I have been told that the residence I landed in is a very coveted rental on the island." Now, it doesn't matter who told her that -- her words there clearly express her experience, rather than stating "The residence I landed in is a very coveted rental on the island" as a fact. And the last post doesn't insult anyone, unlike some earlier statements. I don't think mountaingurl was trying to be inflammatory before, but unfortunately naivete hits the same as willful ignorance on the receiving end.

There are others that post way more often than I do - it's just a mole hill so far, not a mountain!!

A bloggers dream... I know a lot of bloggers who want attention on their blog rather good or bad. It all about how many "hits" you get!

I hope you continue to post. It will be interesting to read as you become more involved with "real life" on STJ.
