Roger Morgan said on the radio yesterday morning there were familiar faces, ie, Phil, Mary and Stephanie missing from GBH. Didn't hear anymore, so no idea what that meant.

Armstrongs would not accept their bid to buy the business, they forced Phil and Mary out. They have given their 2 week notice.

coconut telehraph said it was because the store is a mess. simple stuff like drill dits and saw blades don't get restocked while the store fills up with stuff. The aisles are dangerous.

Sounds like they're righting the ship before the S.S. Home Depot runs them over. If they focus on great customer service and variety like they have I think they can keep a niche that Home Depot won't fill and survive.

The Armstrong family has had an interest in GBH since it was Gannetts...possibly earlier. Phil and Mary have been a part of that business for a long, long time...it will be sad to see them go. I understand through my own coconut vine (no more reliable than anyone else's) that they will stay on island, though.

The Armstrongs are good at running quality businesses.

It's a hardware store! Sorry... my family's been in the hardware business for 3 generations and I have an affinity for them.

i don't care who runs it as long as they reduce prices. was at home depot in st. thomas last week and the aisles were cleared and the prices and selection so much better.

have been a customer of GBH since the Gannet days and they do need to change things. Phil and Mary can do that as well as anyone else.

Juanita, we have a great landord. he had us redo both bathrooms last year and he didnt scrimp on materials . He also has alot of the items in storage for the kitchen, he is just finalizing his plans for the kitchen.
some landlords ARE good. 🙂

I misunderstood your post to Dixie Chick. I thought you were saying HER landlord might let her do the kitchen. Now that would have been funny!
