What do I need to do to transfer cable service? I have a tenant who is moving out and I am going to stay at the house for a month. The tenant is obviously going to take their box with them to their new place, but I want to keep the service on.

Any suggestions here?

Go to Innovative - sign the sheet - sit down and wait for them to call your name - tell them there is cable to the house and you want to sign up for service - they will write a contract - go out to the cashier and pay - they will give you a box and remote - go home plug it in and turn on TV.

On STX they open at 9. Get there at 8:15 - 8:30. The sign-in sheet is outside the closed office. And go during the middle of the week. Last time I had to get a new box the wait after 9 am was less that 10 minutes. Take a book or the paper.

Also, if by chance you only want basic cable you can skip the cable box and remote and the cost is something like $13/month (I pursued this option combined with our DirecTV setup in order to have local news channels - which honestly we watch for entertainment value as opposed to any sort of quality reporting.)

And not that I'm advocating this as it sounds like borderline stealing, but at least at my house there has been the very basic channels turned on since I moved in, and I've never had Cable Service. I have Satellite so I don't use it at all (hence posting here isn't admitting doing anything wrong) but it seems pretty likely that they will leave the basic channels on even after your tenant leaves.

Definitely A LOT of entertainment on the local news (especially channel 8)...but I haven't watched it in a few years since getting Sat.

Basic cable can be diplexed into a satellite installation providing the basic is still on. I believe the basic Innovative pac is about $22.
Unless they have dropped that price to $13??? It gets you all the channels from 2 - 18 I believe.

When I stopped by to return my digital converter boxes they told me $13 for basic cable BUT I haven't actually seen the bills since so I don't know for sure.

We just moved back to Carambola on STX and Innovative Cable is out AGAIN tonight.
(or is it just us?)

Anybody know why it go out?
It's not like there are any WORK crews out there, right?

The electrical grid out this way had a tendency to go off for 20 to 30 minutes a week (we've lived here before).
Hasn't happened yet. Did they upgrade that? Or did I just jinx us?

Neil,
I'm attending your owners meeting on the 11th to answer questions about satellite. You might want to attend if you can.
