My lease says that I am responsible for garbage removal. What does that mean? In NY we leave it on the curb and the city picks it up. Do I have to pay someone to pick it up? Thanks!

It means that you bag up your garbage, put it into your car and take it to the closest local dumpster to dispose of it. You'll get the hang of it!
Most condos have dumpsters on site, most private dwelling owners and tenants do as above. Bag up those bags TIGHT. This isn't NY! Cheers.
