The new management seems to be trying hard to address some past issues. Disclaimer, I work for another company owned by the same folks.

We've been away and are trying to catch up (and since hardware stores seem to play such a big role in our lives on stx) ..is the Phil-and-Mary hardware store open, and if so, has anyone any comments as to how the two compare? Stock, prices, service, hours, etc....thanks

If that's Gannet hardware then I've been there a few times. It's smaller than Gallows but they have a lot of items in there and high vertical stacks which helps. They don't have everything GBH has but much of what they have is cheaper and they have quite a few things I haven't seen at GBH. The few times I've been it's been mostly empty which isn't a good start. They need more signage from the main road and some advertisements would help. They are close to GBH but easy to miss without better signage to help you find them.

I've seen lots of changes and there are lots more to come. The price match guarantee seems to be a good thing as well as the senior and military discounts. They're soon to revamp the whole layout in the front of the store plus other areas to try and make it more 'user friendly'.

I'm referring to GBH.
