Generator Repair Technician on STX

Any recommendations for a generator repair guy/company on STX? I know of a few options and have worked with most of them before but need to try somebody new. Quality Electric has a generator division but will work on Onan (?) generators only. Tristar Industries sells and works on Generac generators but can be very slow to respond and follow up. Alan Myers, who may or may not still be on island, has been around for a while. There is a guy at Ace Rentals who does some generator work on the side. Antilles Power charges around $400 just to come out to see what the problem is. There has to be (I hope) other options on an island this size. Help!

$400 just to come out? That's just wrong! What if your generator only needs a $50 part. They should be reported to licensing for price gouging or something.

If you were on St. Thomas, I could reccommend a great guy who charges very reasonably.
I have him come once a year, prior to hurricane season to service the generator and whenever there is an issue, I cannot, myself resolve.
Never had a $400 bill even for a repair or servicing.
I don't think I would ever pay someone $400 just to come see what the problem is. That is outrageous.
Why not call a marina and ask if they know anyone to recoomened that can fix/maintain generator.
Good Luck.

A reasonably priced car ferry between STT and STX would open up a lot of business options for both islands but I doubt that will happen anytime soon. And even if we did get a ferry I seriously doubt it would be reasonably priced, reliable, or comfortable but I can still dream...

I am living on st croix and am Generac certified (and can prove it). Call me 340 227 3154. I only saw this message now. Hope you are still interested. I can also provide service and maintenance. I have worked on generators for over 4 years with certifications on other types of generators.

Thanks for the reply. The generator in question has been repaired but I will keep you in mind for future issues.

I found a good mechanic and a great guy. Russ Myers of STX mobile equipment repair 740-507-6198. He did a great job fixing my generator and made sure it work good, too! His rates are reasonable! I also ask him if he could fix my car horn while he was here. He said sure! Quickly diagnosed the problem and fix that, too!
