Hi all,

Need to find a stylist to give a good haircut and color for a gal with thick, straight, Caucasian hair. Not looking to pay resort prices...would love to find a small salon who caters to locals/Continentals on STT...anyone out there who knows of someone?? I paid anywhere from $80 to $140 (too much!) in Raleigh, NC...the bad thing is, the $140 cut/color was worse than the $80 one!!

I would also love to find someone who likes to trade services...i.e. trade hair cut/color for one of my massages, etc. Point me in the direction of someone like that and I will be forever grateful!!

Cheers!

Linda

I go to Michelle at the place in Crown Bay behind TIckles. I cannot think of the name of it. She's good.

Nelson at Hairspray, downtown. Sorry, don't have the number handy, but it's in the book. He's really good. Dare I say, the best?

Linda,

Suzette is talking about Monica's at Crown Bay. 774-1944 is the number and it's open Monday - Saturday. Haircuts are $35 for a womans cut and color starts at $85. Facial waxing starts at $10 if you're interested in that as well.

Just Cuts across from Havensight Mall, ask for Julie or Kathy.
Philip Sturm downtown is also good.

Thanks Allison. I knew someone would know the name of the place. For me, since I am a newbie,,, it's all about the closest place to home, and I was happy with my short 'spunky' hair cut.

Also at Monica's in Crown Bay is Heather who always does such a great job with hair and is a lot of fun to chat with and takes really good care of you. I will always recommend her as I have had several great experiences with my cuts there. And the ladies in the building are always having a great time it seems.

Thank you all SO much...being a newbie, I greatly appreciate the info...I mean one does have to get their priorities straight, right??! But seriously, I am not a big "girlie girl", but need my hair to look presentable, especially in light of the fact that I will be out job hunting and interviewing. I don't really want to scare my prospective employer with ugly gray roots showing!!

I will investigate all but Crown Bay is by far the easiest place to get to for me from our new home...things may change when I find employment....

One more question....anybody know Beth Benta, the massage therapist at Crown Bay (Bodyworks Delivered is the business name, I believe)?? I would like to introduce myself to her to see if she needs any other therapists in with her or knows of anyone else looking for massage therapists. Any info would, again, be appreciated...

Although you have already decided, I am going to put in a plug from Katrina Brown. She is at Zen Retreat in Tillett Gardens. They do massage right there, so you could kill two birds with one stone!

Thanks, East Ender....have always appreciated your input in all of the different forum topics I have read...I will most likely check out a couple of different stylists on island, unless the first cut/color is outstanding...always good to see what is out there...also, may be good for me to check out Zen Retreat as I know they have yoga/pilates/massage there...maybe I could find a job there, too!!! Wouldn't hurt to have a connection...

Thanks!
