Got back on island last week to discover a check in my mail box for my 05 taxes. I filed April 12 and received the refund in a little over a month. Last year I did not receive my 04 refund until the end of August so evidently they are getting a little faster or I just got lucky.

Lucky.,..or it was a mistake! haha! I know some people that still haven't got their '95 refunds yet!

I've heard of lots of people getting them within just weeks - has to do with election year.

I am one of those who hasn't gotten my 2004 refund yet. I asked why when I went to file my 2005 taxes last month and was eventually told that there was "an error" on my 2004 return and to come back the next week to talk to someone about it. I returned and was again told to come back at some future time as they weren't sure what the error was, but that the computer said there was an error and that was why my refund hadn't come in. I've been back two more times and keep getting put off to some mystical future date when someone who knows how to figure out what's going on might actually be at the tax office to explain. Meanwhile they wanted their entire payment for 2005!
My old accountant was an IRS auditor for 20 years and she can't see anything in my 2004 tax return that would be an error. It's anybody's guess how long it will take until they figure out that the "error" is that someone just didn't want to cut the check for my refund!
