From The source:
http://stthomassource.com/content/news/local-news/2012/05/25/tourists-shot-havensight-drive

"The two individuals who were shot were traveling as part of a group of 11 visitors to the territory from the New York area, according to police."

Any news on the victim's condition? Motive for shooting? I understand it was "drive-by" . Mistaken identify? Random gang fight?

So sad.

You wonder why the VI has such high murder rates?

It is the animals out there that only think about what they want and nothing about what the other person thinks or does. The laws are made for other people, not them. They do what they want and give no thought to punishment for the crime they are about to commit. In my estimation there are only a few people that do this, but enough to change our lives. It is like them passing you when going up a hill, on a double yellow line, in the rain, in the oncoming lane. It is what they want and do not care that there may be a car coming the other way.

With the wonderful life in the VI comes this type of behavior which has now become a part of life here. It seems that nothing the police can do will stop this. And the sad fact is you never know when it will happen to you or your loved ones.

I'm so sorry but have no idea on how to bring this type of behavior under control.

There have been several armed robberies in and around the parking garage at AYH in the last week as well.

I'm copying one of my previous posts into this thread.

VIPD's Officer Browne, sent this email to our Wintberg Crime Watch group. The VIPD Crime Watch team has been excellent in communicating information and helping the neighborhood get organized. They can't protect the entire community by themselves, so they're asking everyone to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Her email is ofckbrowne@yahoo.com.

"Hi everyone. We are sorry we missed the meeting Sunday, but wanted to say that you all are doing fantastically. I also wanted to let you know we made two more burglary arrests in Peterborg. We believe they are part of the more organized group and we are very happy. I look forward to us continuously working with you and the other citizens to improve safety in our community and thank you for your part. Mrs. Simmonds, we will be in court tomorrow, but will try to come by afterwards so we can get the word out to Newton Command officers about the decals. Hope to see you then and please pass what you all are doing on to others and we will contact them. Feel free to give them my email. We are working on Cabrita Point, Frenchman's Bay, Lemon Tree and Montessori / Vessup areas becoming informed and empowered as yourselves, but of course, we will always remain where we started -in Wintberg. Getting to know you all has indeed been a pleasure. Take care and stay vigilant."

From homes.. Both--I tihink.... ????
burglary implies no one was home?
robbery implies someone was there?
Right? Anyway,
Homes broken into and stuff stolen.
Good time to adopt a dog (or two).

At least with a robbery there is motive. Give the hoodlum you stuff.
Drive-by shootings...good god... the only motive is murder for sake of murder.
Any news on the havensight victim? Motive? Medical condition? God I hope they survive without disability.
So awful.
My best wishes to all this weekend's Innocent victims for recovery and healing.

Robbery is theft with violence or a threat of violence - burglary is the entering of a building with the intent to commit theft.

ms411: Officer Browne, her fellow officers and all the good people at Zone C from the Commander down are, I agree 100%, doing a wonderful job in working with different neighborhoods to establish crime watches. I'm now part of the "in the process of being revived" upper Wintberg watch after having moved to the area just nine months ago, and their appearance at the meetings and their obvious concern is uplifting, as well as their sharing of information on current crime activities.

Their resources/manpower are limited but they're doing everything in their power to arm neighborhoods with the information they need to deter robberies and burglaries and, in my opinion, are doing a fantastic job.

There is no doubt that in comparison to most stateside communities we're a little different. We don't live in "walk-about" neighborhoods and often never even see or get to know our neighbors. That in itself is a challenge but certainly not one which is insurmountable by any stretch. Thanks for re-posting.

Any up date on the condition of two victims? The "source" reported that they were part of a tourrist group from NYC. Any motive for the drive-by shooting?

According to published reports the two injured parties were treated for gunshot wounds, released and returned to the mainland. Two suspects were quickly arrested and are awaiting a court date.

Can you provide a link to the published reports please? Did the report mention the condition of the victims when they were "released" from the local hospital. Often times patients are "released" for emergency transport to US hospitals with more sophisticated acute trauma centers. High profile visitors are frequently transported off island for emergency care. I do hope that they make a speedy and complete recovery.

I believe it is a violation of privacy (HIPAA) for them to report on the condition of the victims, just send them your thoughts and/or prayers.
