Hi everyone, I am moving to STT from the States and my current health ins company treats the USVI as an international country. I am having a hard time finding a health insurance company that I can get an individual policy to cover me in the islands.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Cigna is widely accepted on St. Croix and offers really great coverage.
I had a lot of problems with United Healthcare - most places didn't accept it and then i'd have to file claims which didn't really get paid.

The other option is to get ins out of puerto rico like blue cross blue shield and its many branches. The insurance we use is Triple SSS its a division of blue cross blue shield. Its a HMO branch. My husband works for the federal govt and normally we have great choices but here in the usvi its slim pickins. This one seems to work the best out of the others that we've tried.

The problem is that the company has to be licensed in the USVI. You might check with a local insurance sales person or the Lt Governor's office to find out who is allowed to sell insurance here.
