Most homes in the VI have no water costs since we only use rain water that comes from the roof to the cistern storage. Condos or larger Apt. complexes often have a meter for each unit. An average per person use will vary with conservation measures and personal habit but easily can be kept under 250 Gal. a week P/P. - But when the cistern is overflowing from the rain - shower and flush like a wastrel and do all the laundry!

It just depends, think about how you take showers right now. Are you the kind of person that runs the water continuously from the start of your shower to end? Or, do you get wet, then turn off the shower, do what you have to do, then turn on the shower again to rinse your skin? Do you prefer tub baths over showers? There are many different ways to cut back on water use if needed. But weather you have WAPA water, or cistern you will need to watch you use water. Even though we are on an island, fresh water is a very valuable commodity here.

if you do have a cistern with a water filter the UV and filters can run a couple hundred every 4 or 5 months depending on use and the condition of your cistern.........mine run $188.00 every 4 months or so...........
