Hello Everyone!!!
I may have a job at the Holiday Inn Westward Passage this fall. Anyone familiar with it? Good/bad location? Nice place/dump? Anyone worked there? Anyone know how it compares (workwise) with the other big hotels on STT? Anyone have grapevine info on the best hotel(s) to work at on the STT?
TIA
Bob

Hello Bob,

I can answer some of your questions. It is located in town; on the waterfront; close to the ferry/seaplane area if you know where that is. Its not in a bad area but its close to a seedy area of Savan; if you walk a block you'd be in the 'red light' area. Incidently the red light area I mention is close to the Catholic Cathedral and school so is fine during the day but wouldn't walk in that area at night. Its not a dump as far as my opinion goes (I have visited friends that stayed there, attended Chamber meetings there, went to music venues, gone to the shops...) Its not a fancy place either though. The views from the back and sides aren't good and from the front you would see the main road for town and also the harbor view. There is a baseball field on one side; parking lot and commercial buildings on the other side. It was a bit dated that last time I was there. Not sure about the work situation.

It's a pretty standard, no frills hotel. There's a restaurant and a pool/courtyard, but I've never really seen anyone using the facilities. The location is an easy walk to the seaplane, ferry, and main shopping district of Charlotte Amalie. The neighborhoods to the immediate north and west are a bit sketchy looking, but I've stayed at Windward (not Westward) on a number of occasions and never felt unsafe during the day. It's right on the harbor and very easy to catch a taxi to and from. The staff have always been pleasant and friendly and usually give me a local discount off the room rate when I mention I'm from STX.
