Hi Everyone,
I've been a lurker. Thanks for all the information. I will be coming down from Rhode Island Oct 16th to look at some properties. I have a few questions:

Does anyone use a home school course for high school students? Are they accredited?

Is there hunting allowed on STX?

Is spearfishing legal?

How do vegtable gardens do with the intense sun? Is there enough water to water them?

Is solar or wind power widely used? It seems like an ideal spot.

Thanks in advance,
Stephen

Hunting is allowed for mountain doves, white-tailed deer, and ducks. Spearfishing is legal. The foregoing does not apply to the national parks.

Most vegetables do better in fall, winter, and spring. Shade cloth and trees with light canopies can be used to cut down on sun. For major acerage, you need a well, pump, and filter. Insects can get out of control fast. Nematodes can also be a big problem.

Some solar and wind power are generated by a few panels and mills on private properties. I think in some cases these are more backup or auxiliary sources of power.
