Just relocated to STT a few weeks ago. I didn't realize how hard it is to obtain a job as an RT in the hospitals here.

Hello Gko,

Met someone recently that works at RLS hospital as a respiratory therapist. They had been on a travel contract; after the contract was up they stayed on with a regular (non-travel) contract. They liked St. Thomas and decided to stick around. Sounded like they had been on island just under a year or so. They seemed to be enjoying the workplace.

Is it that the hospital doesn't have any openings for more respiratory therapists, or just the application process is hard?

How are other areas going, apartment, getting around, meeting people?

Thank you for using VIMovingCenter.com to help with your moving plans and settling in to island living.

It seems that getting a job as an RT at RLS is pretty tough. I've also heard that travelers tend to stay because they fall in love with the island. RLS is where I have applied.

My apartment is pretty nice. Everyone I have come across on the island are all really friendly and helpful. I haven't really had much time actually getting out and meeting people but I'm sure that will happen once I get settled.
