How do you remove a rogue superior court judge from office?

I just read the article in the Daily News about the most recent outrage performed by Superior court Judge Leon Kendall. His "style" of justice is a threat to us all. What is his motivation? Can he be impeached and fired? What else can be done to remove him and make us all safer?

I actually read that today and couldn't believe my eyes. All I can say is God bless and good luck to the VI residents. Always nice to have a judge give his opinion after a jury has just convicted someone.

Maybe he can have the cell next to Nifong.

I guess I expected others to be as outraged as I about the comments and apparent attitude of this "judge".

Apparently no one else really cares to try cut crime on St Thomas. Or maybe they are intimidated and don't want to get involved.

You would need to read the VI constitution(?) to see what means there are.
Everyone should picket his house and office, not with pitch forks and torches, but with broomsticks.

I'm sorry, "worried" but your negative comment leaves me rather frosty cold.

The outrage in the community on this subject is high and is certainly being discussed through all media sources. This forum isn't a political venue. To fully appreciate and understand the community's involvement on either this particular issue or others, read the Daily News (available on-line) and the Avis (hard copy only) and (best) our on-line newspaper, St Thomas Source where news reports promote writers via the Open Forum to freely express their views. And also tune into the local talk radio forums.

To cast the blanket assumption that we don't care about crime is most demeaning and demonstrates ignorance on your part. Since you're not a duly registered member of this forum I can only assume that you're just out to create melee and misinformation for the heck of it. Well, mission accomplished, because you got me goat! Cheers!

Worried I don't think you have read much of this boar I have warned people about is not the crime but the lack of justice in the VI. You can not count on the police or the justice system here. And it is not going to change anytime soon. There are many threads on this board about crime, etc. While this isn't a political venue this is a relocation board and people should know about the politics of the area they are planning to relocate too.

terry: The VI is governed by the Revised Organic Act, not a Constitution. There is talk about a Constitutional Convention this year, but there was talk two years ago also. (File under "I'll believe it when I see it.")

worried about justice: What about legislators who say that there are limits to free speech?

Hi Friends
First of all I want to say sorry to Resident and anyone else I offended. I was just a little impatient to get some others to discuss this new crime and punishment issue.

I do read the Avis and Daily news regularly and also the on line Source. I see that there has been some discussion about this issue, but the questions I was trying to answer for myself have not been explored in any of those places. though some have been asked.

First of all, I was trying to find the procedure for impeachment of a judge. I don't know if the revised Organic act provides for an impeachment by the senate or allows a petition from the electorate..or none of the above.

Secondly, what is this guy's( judge Kendalls) story. Why is he protecting a felon who has been arrested 22 times for many violent offenses. Is the judge being blackmailed? or?...is he not quite right himself.

I recognize that Judge Kendall is only a symptom of the problems we have here, but I just wanted to know more.
