Humane Society of St Thomas needs passengers flying to Boston!
The Humane Society has made several relationships with off island rescue groups to save our island's pets. We are looking for travelers going to Boston. We have several puppies to send so we need a few travelers. The traveler is met at our airport by a HSSTT rep and at the other end by a volunteer that drives the animal to the rescue group. American covers the cost of the pet but not the traveler.
If you or anyone you know is traveling to Boston, please help us get these guys to their new homes. Please forward to all your contacts and help us save these precious lives. Please call Annabel at 340-642-7873 or you can PM me.
Thank You!

Thanks for the bump Speee1dy 🙂
anytime cheryl.:-)
Coud you send some of these darned chickens to Boston???:P
I have done this once, the dogs name was Dave, now Stitches. All paperwork taken care of by the Humane Society. Dave was a carry on, ie under the seat.
It was great traveling with the puppy, who was absolutely great from St Croix to Miami, and than Miami to Boston
My cousin ended up adopting, and the puppy has been great with her kids and other dog.
Be part of the solution, and participate in this great program from St Thomas or St Croix.
Spread the word to everyone you know who may be traveling! Did you know that HS also has a program for vacationers who adopt a pet while down here visiting that it also will fly free on American Airlines for FREE to their forever home! Better than a t-shirt or a shot glass souvenir !
cheryl, is that program available on STX as well? We might have guests who would adopt a pet.
There is a Pets-from-Paradise on St Croix run by the animal shelter. However, the shelter usually picks up the cost of the pets travel. American won't fly them for free.
This is great you guys have these places. In Puerto Rico nothing like that exisits so it is all done by individuals. I know 4 people who have found a dog, paid to get the dog fixed, and took care of all the shots, found a home in the states and paid to fly the dog there.
It is a lot of work and I comend these people.
There is a girl at one of my yoga studios trying to find a home for a dog that she found trying to cross a freeway. She had the dog fixed and took care of all the shots. I wonder if I can get her in touch with this Boston group? I don't know if the group in Boston only wants puppies though. These are rescued dogs but not always pupies.
If not I know someone will pull through and find a home for him.

A HUGE thank you to all that have offered to accompany our island puppies to Boston. Today 8 puppies are flying off island and tomorrow we will send 2 more!!!! Amazing job everyone, and a HUGE thank you to American Airlines!
The shelter is still wanting more of our puppies.
We now have a shelter in the DC area that will take our kittens! I am going to make a new posting for those DC passengers.
For those of you that have inquired about this from STX, please contact Donna at the HS , they have a similar program too.
Even if you aren't flying off STT soon you can still help out. Foster families are always needed to help reduce overcrowding at the shelter and to get the puppies and kittens used to people handling them before being adopted.
Every bit of help helps save our island animals lives!!
Thank you again everyone!
KUDOs to those who volunteered and partcipated in the Humane Society program. Thank You .
Wow that is awesome Cheryl. That happened so quickly.
Yes, a huge thanks to everyone who stepped up. Also, it is front page of the Daily News and a few pictures on page 4! Let's keep it going, the shelter will always take our puppies. The states, especially the northern ones, do an amazing job with spay/neuter education that they have a shortage of puppies and kittens! That is what needs to happen down here so that we can end this cycle.

Might be heading to CT in early May to visit family. Any need to take carry on pet going to Bradley International Airport?
I was born in Springfield, STXMike. You from that area?
STXMike-if you are on STX check with your Humane Society there. I am not sure of their flight arrangements. But, if you fly out from STT, yes please bring a puppy or two along!
Thanks.
For STX travellers, Please contact the St Croix Animal Welfare Center's Pets-from-Paradise program. They are always looking for travelers to accompany dogs and cats to no-kill shelters in the states. Call 778-1650 or email petsfromparadise@stcroixawc.org. Last year over 200 animals were flown off island via this program to new homes!!!
if you can't travel, Please consider a donation of money or pet carriers. American DOES NOT pay for pets travel out of St Croix and the Shelter has to pay the pet fee. This fee is paid via donations and out of the Shelter's budget.
