Got a new phone yesterday, and it has an ICE icon. Very nice, but I'm not sure many people in the VI know what it means.

I called the Red Cross and told them about it, so they're going to help spread the word, I hope.

ICE is a mobile phone alternative to Life Alert, but with additional features... It has gotten mixed reviews... Then again, it is better than nothing...

Great! It means In Case of Emergency, and I had it as a contact on my old phone, but now it's a widget icon on my new phone, but will still put it in my contacts.

I'll check the reviews. I had concerns about date of birth, so left that blank. I also used a variation of my name that I don't normally use. If I get contacted by strangers, will post an update, but there should be emergency contact on everybody's phone, imo.

My other thought was that it was an app which would show people where ice is sold in the area ...

That would be very useful, but somebody who distributes ice should create that one! I added ICE info on my lock screen thanks to a found phone post on another forum. I used to put labels on my devices, but these are better until the battery dies.

I did not realize this. I though it was just a way to put in the number of the person you want contacted in case you are incapacitated. Emergency personnel know to look in your contact list for ICE and call them. If anyone goes to my contacts and calls the "person" named ICE, they will reach my husband.
