I was out there the Saturday after it passed.
Bombi, I must have saw you sitting up on the doghouse! I would be the guy flailing and choking on sea water, not turning gracefully like your video shows. Was that your son?

Linda, it was a blast! I'm a beginner surfer and a horrible swimmer and I never felt threatened by the strength of the waves.

Most surfers are water men, They can swim, know what to do in a current and look out for one another. Their experience lies with their scaring themselves silly and building on that knowledge to use as a judgement tool to evaluate risk. There is no stoke like making a wave.

Yeah Noah that's my son. He is in the water every day there are waves. He was bumming last night when a friend called and said the No. Shore of HI was epic.
Go for it Noah. You get the same stoke as everyone else. I think I'm going to try stand up.

Great video Bombi...

I have lived in Santa Cruz (Monterey Bay) and Maui and STX. It is fun to see some surfable waves in the Virgin Islands. I am long past my surfing prime having started with Jack ONeil at Pleasure Point in Santa Cruz in the late 1950's. Yeh.. that was 50 degree water, no wet suits and hollow plywood boards. Even before Hobie and balsa (let alone styro )boards were around.

I have tried to explain to people that the Virgin Islands does not usually have waves big enough for serious surfers. But those sure look like fun. Maybe I'm getting old...nah...
