Not to make light of a serious subject but I bet a lot of people will be pronouncing it Eye-gor just for fun. If we can't make it stop we can at least laugh at it!

It looks like it will make the turn north before it affects us much. But you never know.

Still not taking my eyes off Igor. A little blip, and Igor doesn't get the "go north" message....better safe than sorry. We JUST today put some of the "stuff" back out and up after Earl...oh well...! And then, of course, there is # 12...and then...13, 14, 15???

Side note...What is the highest letter named storm anyone remembers, either VI or Atlantic coast?

Zeta was the 28th named storm of the 2005 season. Zeta formed on December 29th!

Keeping my fingers crossed that the "turn north" happens soon as predicted. If Igor keeps tracking west like Earl did and turns later than the experts are predicting, we might be in for something not so nice. Just my opinion tho.

Igor is a monster ... the sooner he starts heading North, as "they" predict, the better I'll feel ... NOW would be a good time for him to head North!

For those too young to remember, the EyeGore pronunciation comes from the Movie "Young Frankenstein" (in which the evil doctor's name was pronounced Frawnkensteen.) Let's hope we don't talk about him very much more.

From the 5PM advisory...

THE INITIAL MOTION IS STILL DUE WEST...270 DEGREES...AT 9 KNOTS.
ALL OF THE GUIDANCE...EXCEPT THE UKMET...INSISTS ON A TURN TOWARD
THE WEST-NORTHWEST IN THE NEXT 12 HOURS AS IGOR BEGINS TO MOVE INTO
A LARGE WEAKNESS IN THE SUBTROPICAL RIDGE. HOWEVER...DUE TO THE
INITIAL POSITION AND MOTION...THE OFFICIAL FORECAST HAS AGAIN BEEN
ADJUSTED A LITTLE TO THE LEFT OF THE PREVIOUS ADVISORY THROUGH 48
HOURS. BEYOND THAT TIME...THERE IS STILL SOME SPREAD IN THE TRACK
GUIDANCE. THE ECMWF AND UKMET STILL SHOW A STRONGER RIDGE NORTH OF
IGOR THROUGH MUCH OF THE PERIOD...TAKING THE CYCLONE FARTHER WEST
THAN THE REST OF THE GUIDANCE. THE GFS AND GFDL CONTINUE TO SHOW
THE LEAST RIDGING AND TURN IGOR NORTH-NORTHWESTWARD AT THE END OF
THE PERIOD AHEAD OF A MID-LATITUDE TROUGH. WHILE CONFIDENCE IN THE
TRACK FORECAST LATE IN THE PERIOD REMAINS LOW...THE GUIDANCE SHOWS
A LITTLE LESS SPREAD NOW THAN EARLIER TODAY. THE NEW OFFICIAL
FORECAST SHOWS A NORTHWESTWARD MOTION AT DAYS 3 THROUGH 5...AND IS
SIMILAR TO THE PREVIOUS FORECAST. THIS ENDS UP BEING VERY CLOSE TO
THE TVCN MULTI-MODEL CONSENSUS AND A BLEND OF THE GFS AND ECMWF
MODELS.

LARGE SWELLS FROM IGOR WILL BEGIN AFFECTING THE LEEWARD ISLANDS
TOMORROW AND REACH PUERTO RICO AND THE VIRGIN ISLANDS BY WEDNESDAY.

Aussie - You left out the very next sentence -- - - an important part of that NHC 5PM discussion --- At 64'W which is our longitude here in the VI the center of Igor is predicted to be at 30'N which is 720 Nautical Miles North of the VI -"the sky is not falling"
I certainly believe we have to be vigilant and very aware of the weather here , especially this time of year but please try to include all the really relevant info with less of a scare tactic.

LOL...a shot and a miss there, cynical EE!

Damn, there are a lot of fearful people on this board. Zero is obsessed with whether this storm is coming here. I'm not. I'm intently watching one hell of a gorgeous storm wondering if it will reach CAT 5 intensity. The dynamics of this thing are plainly awesome.

All of the models continue to show this puppy turning north soon. I never stated or intimated otherwise. Bermuda may or may not be in the path. Otherwise, this is a fish storm.

Marilyn was a long time ago. Mayhap you should stop living in the past.

No obsession on my part about Igor - just give all the info------------------------ - 'Fish storm'?? - there are also vessels out there!
If you were really here during Marilynn or Hugo -- I absolutely Doubt you could 'forget' them.

Pres. Reagan said "Trust but verify" , Forecasters..... Predict and then Watch like the rest of us. Just curious what the forecasters had predicted for Hugo?????*-)
