At one point, a bus was supposed to meet every ferry in Cruz Bay. Does anyone know if they are starting that up again with the new equipment??

Now that would be a waste of time. I'm only posting here so that people who are interested in public transportation can see just how dysfunctional the system is.

Why would it be a waste of time? It may be valuable information to Commissioner Smalls and provide incentive to them to "step up" their game plan. This is your observation. You should report it. It certainly can't hurt to make a phone call and it may do some good.

The VI govt does not care about the people. Why does nobody get that? They got the federal money and that's all they care about and are only doing what the grant requires. Come on, people, we have no influence. Just look what happened on St John with the Coral Bay project. 300+ protest letters, and only 2 people had to vote to approve, and approve they did. They don't care what the people need or want.

My math tells me that 300 is a very small minority of all STJ residents. The majority got what they wanted.

In the time it takes for people to sit in front of their computer screen complaining about things not being done and throwing out similarly negative remarks, they could be sending off a simple letter of suggestion to the person in charge and doing something to effect the changes.

I absolutely disagree with your stance that saying something leads to a dead end as I've experienced the opposite many times over many years on both small and large issues. Simple, easy? No, I'm not saying it is in all cases but the end result has always been positive and the mission accomplished.

You mentioned the other day that you personally asked a government employee about bus schedules and were told that the schedules weren't part of the employee's job. It seems that rather than simply asking who to contact for the information, you just walked away. Fat lot of good that did.

I am not here to bring about change. I am only posting to report my experiences.

The bus in Cruz Bay runs when the buses are operational for the most part. In the off season they sometimes would cut back and run every other hour. Hopefully the new bus will help in that department making reliable runs. There is also at least one new smaller bus and a new route that runs from Cruz Bay, Gifft Hill, South Shore loop. I'm trying to figure out what the schedules and routes are (have a question into VI Answer Desk on the Source). If they want people to use the new buses, and the new routes, they are doing things backwards by not letting people know the schedules and routes. Even if they are 'testing the waters' so to speak and see what the demand is, they will have no idea what real demand might be by not letting people know what is going on. Saying their are new buses doesn't really tell anyone anything we can't see with our own eyes.

This is an interesting article: http://stthomassource.com/content/news/local-news/2014/11/03/undercurrents-loosen-your-grip-steering-wheel-move-fast-lane. Who knew that we have a transportation plan?

A transportation plan would encompass buses that are actually suitable for our narrow, steep island roads and be available to and from more locations. Northside stt has no access to any public transportation. Nor do many other areas.

They are finally realizing they actually need to post schedules so people depending on public transportation know when a bus is scheduled to arrive and depart? Wow!

I hardly think they need to spend all that money for GPS trackers.
Just have a schedule and stick to it. Just like all the places in the states and other countries that are well run and run on time.

Not every place wants buses, and there is no place where public transportation covers every neighborhood. Dream on.

well ran and on time relies on gps trackers to keep that a consistent so the headquarters can keep track and keep the customers updated on what is happening GPS is very important!
