I have been trying to search for any type of IT jobs on the Island and have not came across too many. Does anyone know of any technical recruiters or IT companies/contracts there? Thanks

IT is a broad field...are you a software developer, by any chance, with .NET skills, or SharePoint?

PM me

Which island?

Also, are you already living on one of the islands or looking to find a job via the internet BEFORE making the move?

If the latter your in for a difficult task. Most employers hire people who are already "here. They learned long ago not to waste their time screen applicants who say they'd like to move to the USVI's but never actually show up.

I live stateside right now. I understand fully why companies would not want to search for people who may not move. This is something I am planning to do within the next few years, I was just trying to grasp how the IT community was there. I know there are going to be jobs as technology is inevitable.

I've looked for IT jobs (sys and network admin) on the island for 5 years, and I've found exactly three relevant posts. Two turned out to be newbie positions @ a pay grade that reflect that, and the one professional position that was posted recently disappeared fairly quickly. The few interactions I've had points to that companies are fairly jaded and don't bother to adhere to common business courtesy, and mention that they are not interested in state-side applicants in their job posts, or bother to acknowledge receipt of an application, or share that the position has been filled by removing their ad, or send out a note to applicants.

I'v worked on other islands and the ones that are reliant on non-island talent roll out the red carpet, fly you over and give your a car and a place to stay for a couple of weeks and a competitive pay check. Not so on VI, here it seems that one should be happy to get anything at all, at a lower rate. Supply and demand I guess.

Yeah one of my mentors that lived on STT used to use kids from local schools at minimum wage for hired help in his computer companies. I was one of them.
