Whomever lived last at my place had Innovative Cable. When they left, we were still able to get basic (like 15 channels) for free. Now there is nothing? Is that it took them over a year to shut it off or is there anyone else out there still getting the basic for free?

Innovative recently switched to an all-digital signal, so if you don't have one of their digital converters you're SOL (even for their basic programming tier).

It now costs you for basic, even though you pay the basic service rate. They gave away the first box for a while but that has ended.
Money, Money Money! That it what it is all about.

Yes they did convert to a digital signal. It just seems unfair

If your TV is digital ready you can still get a number of channels without a box. I have DISH but I just verified a few minutes ago I can still get the Innovative channels. They will be on the channels like 42-1 or 45-6 (58-1 is NBC). They are not in any order but there are quite a few of them, including music channels.

You need a digital TV with a built in tuner. This works if your idea of good TV includes, C-Span, the shopping channels, the religious channels and the local government access channels. There is a reason that Innovative didn't bother to scramble them.

So I did a channel scan this moring on my digital TV and much to my surprise I get about 4 channels.

The first channel that came up was a PORN channel!

The others were ESPN2, some random channel and ALL the music channels.

No networks or home shopping or CSPAN?

I still get nine video channels plus all the music channels. Several are in Spanish plus I still get CSPAN.
