(Repost for Phoenix)

I live on Cape Cod - expensive, good work hard to find as well - I'm fortunate I know a lot of folks here however I'm ready to leave. Came here from DC for my folks and now it's time to slow down, live simply and be in year round summer climate.

The USVI have been beckoning me for a couple years and now it's just me & my girls (2 great dogs) so it's time.

Is it totally nuts for a 40+ woman to relocate to St. Thomas alone with just the girls to work and live out my years in a kind, sunny community? Beaches are a must in my life.

Thanks in advance for your consideration and honest answer.

Kindest regards,
Phoenix

Coming from another single woman of the same age group, I say, "No way is it totally nuts, in my opinion, unless I'm totally nuts too!" 🙂

I'm planning my move with my boy (my kitty named Tom) which is going much quicker than I had every imagined. My move will entail not only a physical move, but the start of a whole new business about which I am intensely passionate. Given all of that, not one of my friends has mentioned anything about me being nuts, not even my mother who has been most supportive of all of it. In fact, my friends have said that they wish they had the gumption to do it themselves. While others may have differing opinions, you've got my vote!

Phoenix-
I don't know....I suppose it's not any crazier than a 30+ year old woman doing it (that's me). Hell, I'll be crazy with the both of you! I've broken the news to a majority of my friends and family and they are all relatively supportive (all but my dad, but you know...i think that's a dad thing). I've actually been surprised at how supportive everyone has been. It was pretty much only my dad that said, "You are absolutely insane." Direct Quote.

Regardless, WHO CARES! Follow your heart and the rest will come. Good luck to you! I'll be down in September on StJ.

Jodi 🙂

Hello Ladies, WE ARE NOT NUTS!!! Just square pegs in round holes! hee hee. Ok, Are any of you looking to share a living space? I just had the rug pulled out from under me and no longer have the space I thought I did. There is a 2 bedroom available for 1500.00 + utilities. Is any one interested? I am arriving STT the 10th of May, I read that some of you are arriving in several months time but wouldn't it be nice to know you had a place?? I don't smoke, I do drink in moderation, I'm an animal person, quiet(kind of) clean and dependable. My Mom liked me. Lou

Hey, it's only nuts if you think it's nuts. A person has to live somewhere, right? I, too, am a single woman well into my 30s. People have often thought that the decisions I've made with my life have been a little nutty, but I know the only regrets I would have wouldn't be that I've done some of the things I've done, but only if I hadn't done them. Make sense?
I plan on being on STT in June and would love to keep in touch with everyone I've had the pleasure of "meeting" here. Especially, those of us who happen to be a bit older.
Also, for Lou, do you have any more info on the space you have to share? I'd possibly be interested if it's still available in June. You can e-mail me if you like at katetastrophee@yahoo.com. Thanks!

You're only 40+??? You make it sound like you're over the hill.
Good Lord - that's nothing! Might as well live where you want to. Your life is only starting.

You are not crazy at all!
I too asked this questions several months ago .
IAm totally in love with The USVI
I wished I could follow my heart right this min , but I have some obligations that are preventing me , but if I didnt have them I would have already moved there . Iam 42 and want to be there ASAP.
I will be there June the 14th to start work at Maho for the month.
I hope that this experience will give mew some insight as to the real life day to day !
If there is any one who will also be there during june or july please lets talk.
You are not alone and you are not CRAZY, I repeat You are not alone
It's like an obsession for me . not a day goeas by that StJOhn is not in my mind . I really have it bad. I say do it.

Thanks everyone!

I am definitely relocating and earlier than thought & I'm thrilled!

Anxious, of course but thrilled!

I've moved around a great deal all my life so I'm used to that part - first time alone off the mainland and being such a sentimental "caretaker" of family items, hard to part with however I keep reminding myself that it is just "stuff." A little will come with me, the rest to my brother.

So, I'll keep asking questions, reading all your terrific postings and even begin posting my resume on resume sites!

The hectic time has started!

Thank you all for the good, the bad, the ugly but most of all the candor - how refreshing!

I look forward to sharing some of your sunshine & wacky roads too!

All the best,
Phoenix
