Do you think St. Croix is in need of a affordable portrait photographer? If so, what is considered "affordable" on the island?

There are many excellent photographers on St Croix. This shouldn't deter you because there are always opportunities for good people who do good work. Affordability is a relative term because what is affordable to one person might be unaffordable for another. In my view, all professional photographers seem expensive to me.

I agree photographers are expensive. I know in Kentucky, most photographers have it set up that you only receive a limited number of photos and they charge $175+. I only lightly edit my photos which means I do some color correction and fix small blemishes. This cuts down editing time a lot. I provide all of the photos I took and burn them on a disk to give to the customers.

I was thinking $60 for a 30 min shoot and you receive every photo taken. This would be ideal for individuals and couples. $100 for a 1 hour shoot which would be ideal for couples and families.

I don't do any prints, only provide the digital copies. Are these prices reasonable?

That is very reasonable compared to the last time I had a professional take some family photos about 2 years ago.

Affordable relates to your quality. If you post a link to your portfolio I can tell you if you're gonna make it or not. We have some AMAZING talent here. I work with Nicole Cagnata (probally misspelled that) and I don't think anyone in the VI does as good at people photos as her. She does the back of the this week magazine - which I do the layouts for. Her work is stunning.
