Island hopping?

I live in Miami now, and have the opportunity to relocate to the USVI with my employer. The job would most probably be on St. Thomas, but the housing market on St. Croix is more in my price range. Is it economically feasible/advisable to live on St. Croix and work on St. Thomas? I know airfare is cost prohibitive. What about owning a boat or taking the ferry everyday?

Hello Paul,

No that isn't a feasiable arrangement.

The ferry only runs during high season and not on a frequent schedule.

St. Croix is 40 miles away from St. Thomas and its open ocean, can be rough. So having your own boat isn't really an option either for daily commuting.

Islander,

Thanks for the reply. I spent a lot of time reading the different posts on this board (GREAT RESOURCE) and have come to realize that STT is most likely the island I would prefer anyway. I guess I will just have to adjust. Miami's housing market is crazy too, so it won't be to much of an adjustment.

Thanks again,

Paul
