Hello everyone!! My husband and I started a blog website that some of you may find interesting. We started a blog for our many many house remodel projects, daily life here on St. Croix, gardening, and other hobbies. We are hoping the site will keep us motivated to keep working 😎

I just found your blog last night after doing a search for "living on STX"! Great blog! Looks like you have done a ton of work on your house. I was planning on sending an email with a few questions & will do so in the next few days. Look forward to hearing more on the blog. It's definitely helpful for those of us (me :-)) who are planning to take the plunge but are hungry for more info before we get there. Thanks for taking the time to blog!

One question - where is Shell Island????

Thanks everyone! We are enjoying the blog. It really helps keep us motivated 🙂 Alana33, sometimes we question just how young and energetic we really are 🙂

Stxer1, Shell Island is right next to Hovensa (the oil refinery). It was created when they dredged the canal and is literally made up of shells and sand. There is a small cove on the island with a beach hut. We love it there! Some people don't like that it is so close to the refinery, but we never thought twice about getting in the water when in South Texas so we are not concerned. I am pretty sure the Gulf is WAY worse 🙂
